William "The Machine" Webber
![]() What is your nickname? - The Machine What is your weightclass? - My weight class is 165 lbs. Where do you train/what city do you represent? - I represent and train in Lake Orion, Michigan. What is your style and what does a normal day of training look like? - I have been training MMA for 8 months. I'm a grappler and a wrestler. I wrestled for 9 years including a year of college wrestling for Muskegon Community College. On a normal training day I usually train two-ah-days. First session consists of heavy lifting (chest, arms, back and shoulders, or legs depending on the day)and a 2-3 mile run as well as abb work outs. Second session is mainly cardio. I'll start on the eliptical for 15 to 20 minutes at sixty percent resistance. Then a three-round-run which is designed to build stamina to last through the three rounds of an actual fight. I start out by jogging for two minutes at 5.5mph. Then the next 5 minutes are a sprint at 7.5mph, then a minute rest followed by another 5 minute sprint at 8.5mph then a minute rest and another 5 minute sprint were the first 2 minutes are 9.5mph the next 2 minutes are at 10.5mph and the last minute is at 11mph. After the three-round-run I have whats called a Coutore Work out or Fight-Gone-Wrong Work out. Coutore Work out is a series of 9 excersises (military press, arm curls, squats, bent over rolls, lunges, stiff legged dead lifts, hindu squats, push ups and jumping jacks). Each excercise is 15reps. at 60lbs and there are 3 rounds with a minute of rest in between. Fight-Gone-Wrong is 5 excercises (mountain climbers, wall ball-were I sqaut and jump up throwing an 8lbs ball up against the wall, box hops-were I jump up side to side on a box, sumo squats with a 10lbs sumo weight, military press with 30lbs dumb bells). Each excercise is one minute long and there are three rounds. This is to simulate a 3 round fight at 5 minutes per round. After one of the two work outs I usually roll with my team mates and practice my striking, jui-jitsu, and my wrestling and take downs for 45-60 minutes. Finally I will finish with abb work outs (suicides, crunches, leg lifts) and Iron-body training were coach hits my core with a 5lbs ball at 3 rounds for 20 hits. What do you think are your strengths? - My strengths are wrestling and striking. I'm working on my jui-jitsu which kind of comes naturally since I'm a wrestler. What is your current record? - My current record is 3-0 with all three victories in the first round. Currently I hold the Worlds Mens Fastest MMA Knock-Out record which is 6 seconds. What is your typical game plan when facing an opponent? - I try to feel my oppenents out. I begin striking and usually taking them down and looking for a ground and pound or a submission. I usually try for a rear-naked-choke. How do you prepare yourself mentally before stepping into the ring? - We call it silent confidence but alot of people refer to what I am as cocky. I just clear my mind and I know I'm going to win. There's no room for the weak minded in this sport. Just before I walk out I make my coach slap me across the face 3 or 4 times. People think I'm crazy but it gets the blood flowing. I usually listen to my music as well. I tisten to alot of Eminem and Three 6 Mafia. I will also spar a little, stretch and talk to my coaches. What type of music do you listen to and who is your favorite artist or song when entering the ring? - I listen to everything but before I fight I like to listen to Eminem, Three 6 Mafia, Disturbed, Saliva, Korn, D12, Limp Bizkit, Slip Knot, Young Jeezy and so on. My favorite sounds are: Ladies and Gentleman, Dope Ride and Click Click Boom by Saliva, I Put On and Amazin' by Young Jeezy, the whole Choices II cd by Three 6 Mafia as well as their song "One Hitta Quitta". Sing For The Moment, Till I Collapse, Lose Yourself, and I am by Eminem and Bushes by Plies. Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit. Bodies by Drowning Pool. Stupify and Inside the Fire by Disturbed. Do you have any heroes? Who in MMA do you think your style is similar to? - My Heros are my dad and grandfather. Another hero of mine is Georges St. Pierre because he's cock deisel. Who are your favorite fighters and why? - One of my favorite fighters is Georges St. Pierre because he's cock deisel. I also like Chuck Lidell because he's "The Ice Man". What are your hobbies when you are not training or fighting? - I like to hang out with my friends, listen to music and watch movies. Where do you see your MMA career in 2 years? - I hope to see myself as a pro fighter in the UFC in two years. Fighting means alot to me. It's basically all I have. What is your ultimate goal in MMA? - My ultimate goal for MMA is to go pro and make a living fighting. |
